Personal leave days are prorated based on capacity. You’re entitled to 5 paid personal days per year, which should be used for sickness, unforeseen disruptions (like a power outage), or caring for dependents (human or otherwise 🐾😉).

Given the unpredictable nature of these circumstances, we recommend that you let your manager and team know asap in Slack and request your personal time off in Float as soon as you return.

You can use Quarterly Life Leave orPaid Time Off (PTO) options for planned self-care days. These are designed to allow you to take time off for rest and rejuvenation without dipping into your allocated personal days, which are reserved for unforeseen circumstances rather than planned time off.

Unused personal leave days don’t carry over and aren’t owed if you don’t end up needing all of them — they’re there as a safety net, not a balance to ‘use up.
