Days in lieu (DIL) are extra time off, approved case-by-case when work or travel impacts your personal time (weekends, regional holidays) or when extra recovery time is needed. Once a day in lieu is approved they can be used the same way as a PTO day.

We use days in lieu to make sure travel - especially long-haul or weekend travel doesn’t come at the expense of rest. Meetups are high-energy, high-engagement time, and we want everyone arriving rested and at their best, not depleted.

🚧 Time in lieu must be pre-approved by your manager and Georgie. It is not back-dated and is automatically declined if it is requested after the date.

Meetups + travel: how it works

Example (long-haul)

For folks traveling on multi-leg journeys (with layovers and multiple flights) or with 20+ hours of one-way travel, you may need extra recovery time so you arrive rested and at your best for a work engagement on Monday.

If you need to leave home on Saturday, and use Sunday to recover before a Monday work engagement:

20+ hours one-way:

If your travel is more than 20 hours one-way, you receive one day in lieu total (not per leg).

Other reasons days in lieu come up

Days in lieu may also be approved when you’re required to work during time that would normally be off, like:
