Why we do weekly check-ins

Your weekly check-in is a touchpoint between you and your manager. In an async environment, deliberate effort and consistency matters. Completing your check-in each week helps keep your work visible, your priorities clear, and your manager equipped to support you.

Completing your weekly check-in

Each Friday, you’ll receive a notification to complete your weekly check-in. You can complete your check-in in 15Five or via Slack.

Each weekly check-in contains a few components:

You’re expected to complete your check-in each week, but it’s okay if the length of your responses vary from week to week. It’s also okay to include pieces that might feel personal, if it feels appropriate to you; something going on in your personal life can absolutely impact your ability to show up at work, and check-ins are a great place to share any context that might feel relevant.

Your manager will respond to your weekly check-in each week, providing support, feedback, and value where possible. They may add check-in points to your next 1:1 if the item is better addressed synchronously, and you’re welcome to do the same

Who can view your weekly check-in

Check-in visibility is hierarchical, meaning your direct manager and anyone above them in the hierarchy (that is, your manager's manager, their manager, etc.) can view your check-in.

You can mark individual answers private, only visible to you and your manager 🔒
