We believe reference conversations are a two-way street.

Our goal is to set new team members up for success and learning more about your work approach, communication style, leadership, and experience from someone you’ve worked with empowers us to set you up for success for the team and the open role.

On the other hand, as someone looking to work at Float, you are also interviewing us! Speaking to a current team member outside of your interview process could help you make the best decision about life at Float and what it’s like to work here.

Manager reference

As part of the hiring process, we request the contact information of a former manager that the Hiring Manager can reach out to to learn more about what it’s like to work with you. The goal is to better understand your working style, communication approach, any development areas (we all have them!), and how we can continue to foster and build trust together.

We don’t use this conversation to aid our decision-making, but rather to help us better understand you so that we can set you up for success in your new role.

Float reference

We will set you up in a Slack channel with one of our team members to connect asynchronously. Typically we leave the channel open for about a week so that you can have ongoing conversations. This channel is private, and will only include you, the Float team member, and a member of our Talent team. The team member who you’ll be connected with won’t be your direct manager, but will be a peer or someone you’ll work closely with in the new role.

We encourage you to take full advantage of this and ask anything (big or small!) you’re wondering about what it’s like to work at Float.

You will see an invitation coming from the Float Slack workspace for this.
