We know that starting a new job, no matter how much experience you have, can be nerve-wracking. We’ve all been there! This page outlines our onboarding process, which is designed to help you kick off your first 3 months at Float with all of the information and context you’ll need to thrive in your new role.
We have three key goals during this onboarding process:

With every new team member, we are learning and refining our onboarding process. If you have any feedback about your experience or questions along the way, reach out to Julia or Ashley (our Talent Team) directly.

We do a lot of preparation ahead of your first day so that you can be set up for success on your first day. To do this, an internal onboarding team that consists of Talent, Leadership, and selected team members works together to complete tasks that will provide you with the information and access you need to do your job. This checklist is created by Talent in Notion and shared with the internal onboarding team before your start date. On your first day, your access will be ready and you will have contacts for the people to reach out to if you have any issues.
Your manager will email you all of the information you need before your first day.
Perhaps the most important will be the link to your Welcome Page, which is housed in Notion and includes a detailed checklist of all things Onboarding. Your Welcome Page will be your go-to personalized guide, and will break down everything you should focus on at each stage of your onboarding journey.
Our goal with the Welcome Page is to break down “Onboarding”, i.e. a 12 week process with a lot to learn, into bite-sized pieces with lots of helpful context and information.
Behind the scenes, we have a Slack channel and team dedicated to your onboarding success. Your Onboarding Team is made up of team members from Talent, Ops, Directors, your manager, and your onboarding buddy. The onboarding team is there to set up access, schedule initial meetings with the new team member, and ensure that all necessary information is shared for your Onboarding Period at Float to be as smooth as possible.
As part of the onboarding process, you will see meetings already scheduled in your calendar on your first day. Each meeting has a unique focus that helps to paint a larger picture of the why, how and who behind Float.
Here are some examples of who you’ll meet with, at what point in your onboarding period, and why. This can differ from role to role.
