Moonlighting is working other professional paid jobs outside of Float. Having time off and away from work to do things that make you happy is an important part of our culture, whether that’s for a hobby or a paid job.
Here’s how we address Moonlighting in order to avoid conflict or issues down the road.
What We Support
- A side project that is outside of our industry, specifically Resource Management software. You may be looking to try out a business idea, develop an app, or produce a podcast. As long as the effort doesn't conflict with your Float deliverables, diminish your performance, or benefit direct competitors of Float, go for it.
- An occasional gig (paid or pro-bono) for someone you know or a community organization that requires a few hours a month. This can be a writing project, a speaking engagement, a friend's website or a non-profit you want to help support.
If you have to take some time off for any side-hustle or moonlighting, we expect that you will use your paid time off to do so.
What We Don't Support
- Contracting for another organization in our industry (Resource Management software). Not sure if that industry is in conflict? Ask ahead of committing.
- Businesses that require prioritization of its time ahead of Float's: e.g. A business that requires you to provide customer support during your workday is likely to be a conflict.
- Any full-time role outside of Float
If you're finding that you're exhausted or distracted, that's going to impact your performance and the team. . It's a fine balance, so the best course of action is to chat with Operations if you are in doubt before you jump into any work outside of Float that you're unsure about.
