Coaching Session: What to Expect

Coaching sessions are available to anyone at Float who would benefit from a private 1:1 coaching session with Amber to work through a challenge, blind spot, or progress towards a goal. Generally, they are over Zoom and can be anywhere from 30-60 minutes. This document is a general overview of what to expect.

Amber’s Coaching Background and Experience

With over five years of coaching experience, I’ve led more than a dozen Gallup StrengthsFinder team workshops, improving teamwork and empowering individuals in their roles. I’ve supported managers in refining their leadership approach to better align with the needs of their teams and individuals, and through 1:1 coaching, I’ve helped team members leverage their strengths to grow in their careers.

In my experience, understanding your strengths, combined with guidance on how to apply them, leads to a deeper sense of empowerment, impact, and fulfillment in your work.

Preparation:

Gallup Strengthsfinder

  1. It is recommended that you take the Gallup Strengthsfinder assessment before your first session so Amber can weave it into the structure of your coaching sessions to hone in on how to leverage your strengths as a part of your development. The assessment takes about 30 minutes to complete so make sure you set aside the time and are free from distractions to complete it.
  2. Send your assessment to Amber via Slack prior to your first session.
  3. Float will cover the expense of the assessment. Once complete, email the receipt to [email protected] for reimbursement.

Development Plan

If you have a development plan that you are working on with your manager, please send it to Amber in advance of your first meeting. This way, she can be made aware of what you’re focused on and what your development goals are.

Confidentiality

A successful coaching relationship is built upon mutual trust and freedom of expression. Therefore, what we discuss will be kept confidential. That said, if, at any point, it may be beneficial to share information outside of our sessions, we’ll discuss that in advance of the information being shared.

Coachee Responsibilities

  1. Come to sessions with one or two things you want to work on (issue or goal).
  2. Try to be open and honest with yourself.
  3. Be open to look at things unconventionally.

Coach Responsibilities (Amber’s Responsibilities)

  1. Be present, direct and unconditionally constructive.
  2. Focus on results and your goals.
